Ahead of its launch that is scheduled to take place on January 23, Maruti Suzuki has released a teaser of the upcoming next-generation WagonR. The teaser image reveals the silhouette of the all new WagonR as well as its rear profile and new tail lights.
Based on the Heartect platform that underpins various Maruti Suzuki models including the new Ertiga, new Swift, Baleno and Ignis; the new WagonR sheds some weight while gaining a few inches. The model is said to be about 50-65 kg lighter than its predecessor while also benefitting from a longer wheelbase and increase in width. This will result in additional space as compared to the outgoing model of the WagonR.
Maruti will offer the new WagonR with two engine options including the 68 hp 1.0-litre petrol engine as seen on the current model, as well an optional 83 hp 1.2-litre petrol engine. Both these engines will be available with a five-speed manual transmission as standard whereas an AMT will be available as an option. The all-new 2019 Maruti Suzuki WagonR will be available in seven variants of which the 1.0-litre engine can be had in the LXi, VXi and VXi AGS (AMT for Maruti speak) while the 1.2-litre variant will be available in the VXi, VXi AGS, ZXi and ZXi AGS variants.
Feature wise, the 2019 Maruti Suzuki WagonR will come equipped with a driver side airbag, ABS with EBD and rear parking sensors as standard in view of the upcoming safety norms. Apart from the aforementioned features, the upcoming WagonR will also receive a 7 inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual front airbags and electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs with integrated turn indicators.
