Suzuki Hayabusa To Be Discontinued In Europe, MY2019 Bookings Open In India

The legendary Suzuki Hayabusa will soon be discontinued in international markets as it will not be able to comply with the upcoming emission norms. The Hayabusa, also known as the Suzuki GSX1300R does not meet the Euro-IV emission norms which came into effect in 2016.

The Euro-IV norms stated that non-emission compliant products cannot be sold after December 31, 2018. Hence, the production of the Hayabusa will be stopped soon and surplus stock, if any, will be shipped to the North American markets.

First unveiled in 1998, the Hayabusa (popularly known as the ‘Dhoom bike’ in India) was the first production motorcycle to break the 200 mph (320kmph) mark. Unlike the European market, the Hayabusa will be sold in India at least until 2020 when the BS-VI emission norms kick in. Suzuki 2 Wheelers India recently announced that bookings for 2019 Hayabusa have begun.
