Triumph Motorcycles has launched the Speed Twin in India, with a price tag of INR 9.46 lakh (ex-showroom, pan India). The Speed Twin is the eighth model from the company’s current generation of Bonneville’s to be launched in the country.
Powering the new Triumph Speed Twin is a 1200cc, parallel twin engine that is capable of producing a maximum power output of 97 hp at 6,750 rpm and 112 nm of torque at 4,950 rpm. This engine is paired to a six-speed transmission. This engine is an updated version of the Thruxton’s motor where the figures remain the same and the updates come in the form of a revised clutch assembly and a magnesium cam cover.
Coming to the features, the Triumph Speed Twin receives a retro looking twin-pod instrument console, ABS, switchable traction control and three ride modes including Road, Rain and Sport. Suspension duties on the model are handled by KYB sourced 41mm forks at the front and twin shocks with adjustable pre-load at the rear. Braking power comes in the form of twin 305mm discs and 220mm discs at the front and the rear respectively. The model rides on 17-inch wheels wrapped in Pirelli Diablo Rosso III rubber.
