TVS Motor Company announced that the company has rolled out the 50,000th unit of the BMW 310cc model from their plant located in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. The motorcycle in question is a BMW G310 R finished in a shade of Red. This unit was rolled out in the presence of Markus Schramm, Head of BMW Motorrad, and KN Radhakrishnan, Director & CEO, TVS Motor Company.
TVS Motor Company and BMW Motorrad had signed a long-term strategic partnership to manufacture sub-500cc motorcycles for the global market back in April 2013. This collaboration has resulted in the launch of three products on the 310cc platform namely BMW G310 R, BMW G310 GS and TVS Apache RR 310. BMW Motorrad began exports for the 310 twins in December 2016. These motorcycles are currently exported to more than 90 countries.
Powering the BMW G310 siblings is a 313.2cc, single cylinder, a liquid cooled engine that produces 34 hp and 28 Nm of torque. This engine comes paired to a six-speed transmission. The BMW G 310 R and G 310 GS were launched in India earlier this year, with prices starting at INR 2.99 lakh and INR 3.49 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Markus Schramm, Head, BMW Motorrad, said that six years back, they took a crucial step with the decision to enter into the sub 500cc category in partnership with TVS Motor Company. With TVS, they found a perfect partner who has always stood for high quality and technology. They are delighted that they are rolling out the 50,000 unit of their 310 series motorcycles in less than two years. This reaffirms their decision to offer BMW Motorrad quality-led premium products for the sub 500cc segment.
